مدفن أحمد باشا تيمور (و. 1930م)
الأديب والباحث والمؤرخ المصري
إبن إسماعيل باشا تيمور رئيس ديوان الخديوي أسماعيل وأخو الأديبة عائشة التيمورية ووالد الروائيين محمد ومحمود تيمور. جمع المئات من المخطوطات العربية وفهرسها وأهداها لدار الكتب المصرية. ومن أهم مؤلفاته كتاب الأمثال العامية وقاموس الكلمات العامية المصرية وتصحيح لسان العرب والقاموس المحيط و سير أشهر المهندسين والأطباء في الإسلام وأعلام القرن الرابع عشر الهجري.
وتضم موسوعة أحمد باشا تيمور عن الأمثال الشعبية العديد من الأمثال عن الموت
((إن ما كنا نموت فين نفوت))
والمعنى ليس لنا طريق إلى الآخرة ننفذ منه ونمر الى الموت فلابد لنا من المرور منه.
((ما تعيطوش على فخاركم ده له زيّ أعماركم))
أي لا تبكوا على فخاركم الذي كسر لأنه مثلكم لابد له من يوم يزول كما لابد لكم من يوم تموتون فيه.
((أبو جوخة وابو فلة في القبر بيدًلًى))
أي أن من يلبس الملابس الفخمة (الجوخة أو الصوف الناعم) كمن يلبس الملابس البسيطة (الفلة اي الكتان الخشن) كلاهما مصيره الموت.
(( يا دوم مِلًا لك يوم))
والدوم شجر يشبه النخل معمر له ثمر يؤكل والمراد يا دوم لا يغرك طولك وصلابتك فسوف يكون لك يوم يحطمك الزمن فيه – أي أن كل شيء فان.

Tomb of Ahmad Taymur Pasha (d. 1930)
Egyptian writer, scholar and historian.
Son of Isma’il Taymur Pasha head of Khedive Ismail’s diwan, brother of the writer ‘A’isha al-Taymuriyya and father of the novelists Muhammad and Mahmud Taymur. Ahmad Taymur collected and archived hundreds of rare Arabic manuscripts which he later donated to the Egyptian Dar al-Kutub. He write books about engineers and physicians from the Islamic period, revised seminal Arabic dictionaries such as Qamus al-Muhit and Lisan al-‘Arab, wrote a dictionary of colloquial Egyptian Arabic and collected Egyptian sayings and proverbs into a compendium.
Among the proverbs Ahmad Taymur collected are sayings about death:
“If we did not die, where would we go”, meaning that the final destination is the afterlife and death is how we pass on to it.
“Do not cry over your pottery (tableware) – it is like your lives”, meaning nothing lasts forever – your tableware will break and you will die.
“He who wears soft wool and he who wears rough linen, both will end up being lowered into a grave”, meaning for the rich and the poor, death lies at the end
“Even a Doum Palm’s day will come”, meaning that everything perishes even a strong palm like the Doum (Hyphaene thebaica).
